Library Liaison Program

Purpose:

In keeping with the Ethel K. Smith Library’s mission to support the teaching, learning, and research needs of the university, the purpose of the Library Liaison Program is to foster communication between the library staff and the university’s academic programs.

Goals:

Library Liaisons are assigned to specific academic departments / programs to foster a more personalized level of service between faculty, staff, and students. Engagement may include:

  • Share information about library services, policies, programs, and resources
  • Identify user interests and needs
  • Obtain input on issues affecting the library and library services
  • Collaborate with faculty for specific assignment resources, research, or projects
  • Review library holdings in preparation for new course proposals
  • Assist with collection development for both selection and de-selection
