The databases available to Wingate students, faculty, staff and administration are not limited to those from NC-LIVE. There are a number of others, some of which are accessible outside the walls of the Ethel K. Smith Library. These are accessible by way of passwords. In the past, if someone wanted to know the password, they would have to go to the Library's Reference desk. In addition, the passwords have now been published on the campus intranet so that anyone with a Wingate intranet account (and that includes all students, faculty, staff, and adminstration) can access those databases, even when the library is closed.

These password accessible databases include The Philosophers' Index (from Siliver Platter) and the Inet Library. Other vendors include Ovid and OCLC FirstSearch, which combined provide access to over fifty databases.
