The Library is a place for serious study and research, not for socializing. Please be as quiet as possible so that others may study.

Your Wingate University ID is required for all Library transactions. In order to check out books, periodicals, reserves, and other materials your ID is required. In order to log on to the computers in the Library it is necessary to have your Wingate University Username and Password. These items are distributed during Orientation.

No food or tobacco products are to be brought into or used in the Library. Drinks are allowed, provided that they are in sealed containers. When using the Library Lab, Online Catalog, or Small AV Rooms, however, beverage containers should be moved away from the computers and other electrical equipment. If you have food, or beverages in an open container, with you, you will be asked to leave it at the Circulation Desk prior to entering the Library.

Circulating materials are available for a three week check-out period during the Fall and Spring Semesters and one week during Summer Sessions. Students are limited to checking out twelve books at any one time. Overdue books accrue a fine of 25¢ per day, per book. Checkout privileges are suspended should a student have more than five overdue items or accrue fines that equal or exceed $10.00.

Although assistance is always appreciated, please DO NOT RESHELVE materials. Place all books on the designated red shelves in the stacks, leave Reference books on tables in the Reference Department, and please return all magazines/periodicals to the Periodical Desk.

The Library adheres to the University’s Honor Code. Therefore, “unauthorized use of another individual’s identification (username) and password;” and “use of computing facilities to send obscene or abusive messages” as well as other violations that are outlined in the handbook are infractions that will be addressed (WU Student Handbook 2000-2001, 66).
