Welcome Back

August 21st, 2012 by jimm wetherbee in Announcements, Databases, Friends of the Library, Reference

The Fall Semester is almost here.  Classes start up again on August 28th.  Just to start out, here are the library hours.

  • Monday-Thursday: 7:30 a.m. – 11:00 p.m.
  • Friday: 7:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
  • Saturday: 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
  • Sunday: 3:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.

Hours vary according to various breaks, holiday’s and exam periods.  These are always listed on the library homepage.

Director's Office and Access Services Those of you who are returning might find yourselves just a bit lost. Over the summer some of us have moved around a bit.  Now, librarians enjoy helping students, not confusing them, so the moves are actually the first steps in some bigger doings that are designed to make the library more accessible to students and provide more services.  The first thing you will notice is that the Director’s Office–which use to be up in Haskins Room–and Access Services area (InterLibrary Loan and Friends of the Library, which were tucked in back behind Reference) are now in one suite.  You can find both across from the Circulation Desk by the Elevator in Room 117.  So, if you are looking for Mrs. Odom, the Library Director, or need help with an InterLibrary Loan from Mrs. Inge, the are both conveniently located.

As you may know, Room 117 had been the office for the Network and Library Systems Administrator (Mr. Wetherbee)  What you may not have known is that for the past year Mr. David Thompson, the University’s Network Engineer had no office at all.  Until recently, Mr. Thompson occupied on corner of a desk in Stegall.  Now Mr. Wetherbee and Mr. Thompson are both in Room 221 next to the Children’s Room off of the Haskings Room.

Tip of the WeekMs Shealy, the Library’s Reference and Bibliographic Instruction Librarian, has revamped the Reference Office.  There is a new computer that Ms Shealy can use with students during reference consolations to assist in walking through various databases and search strategies. Also new is a cork/whiteboard.  Take special note of the board.  Each week Ms Shealy will post a new research tip, designed to make academic life more productive and rewarding (if not just a little bit easier), and each month a new database will be featured.

So again, welcome back, and stay tuned, add EKS Libris to your RSS feeds, find us on Facebook or Google+, or come to the library just to see what is going on; there is more to come.
