EKS Library Instruction Serves Over 700 Students, Faculty, and Staff

November 18th, 2009 by Ashley Shealy in Bibliographic Instruction

In the 12 weeks since the start of the semester on August 25th, librarians at the Ethel K. Smith Library have delivered 46 instructional sessions to 728 students, faculty, and staff. That’s an average of almost four sessions and 60 participants per week!

Sessions have been held at the Ethel K. Smith Library, at Wingate’s Metro Campus in Matthews, and even in Mooresville for that county’s Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership cohort. English 110 classes comprised 39% of the sessions, with myGateApps, Education, Marketing, Psychology, Physical Education, History, Communication, and Wingate 101 rounding out the remainder.

The focus of Bibliographic Instruction and Information Literacy at the EKS Library is to foster lifelong learning and research skills in the university’s student body, faculty, and staff. Please contact Greta Wood, Reference/Instruction/Catalog Librarian, at gwood@wingate.edu or call the Reference Desk at campus extension 8097 with any questions.
