FOL Welcomes Wingate Alum
The Friends of Library Board is pleased to announce that Mr. Kevin Winchester will be joining the group for its annual Author’s Coffee Talk. This year’s event will be held Saturday, October 28, 2006, at 10:30 a.m. in the Ethel K. Smith Library’s Cornwell Room. Admission is $5 per person. To reserve a space, please contact Luanne Barbee at 704-233-8093 or at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Friends of the Library began a new tradition in the fall of 2002 by offering an academic aspect to the Wingate University Homecoming festivities. The
FOL group invites local and regional authors to speak. Guests enjoy a delightful author’s discussion, assorted coffees and
pastries, book signing, and a chance to meet and talk with the author.
Mr. Winchester lives in Waxhaw, N.C. He holds a BA from Wingate University and a MFA in creative writing from Queen’s University. In 2005, he was selected to attend the Bread Loaf Writer’s Conference in Vermont. Most recently, his short story, “Shine,” was published in Gulf Coast Literary Magazine. Forthcoming is a creative, non-fiction essay to be published in the January 2007 issue of Tin House Literary Magazine. His past works have appeared in the Asheville Literary Review, “Main Street Rags;” Short Story Anthology, “Everything but the Baby,” “Southern Hum,” and “Story South.”
This is a Lyceum event.
