NCLA 56th Biennial Conference

October 21st, 2005 by Amee Odom in From the Director

Amee Odom, Debbie Hargett and Marilyn Brown attended the North Carolina Library Association 56th Biennial Conference last month at the Benton Convention Center in Winston-Salem.

The theme of the conference was Your Library: The Place to Be. The opening session included retired football coach and guest speaker Herman Boone. Mr. Boone is the award winning coach, best known for his story in the film “Remember the Titans.” He now tours the country as a motivational speaker. The focus of his session included team work, community involvement, and the importance of character, all of which can be reflected and connected to the mission of libraries.

Other sessions at the conference included various topics that affect the academic libraries today.

The conference reception was hosted by Wake Forest University providing attendees the opportunity to network ideas and enjoy the newly renovated Z. Smith Reynolds Library.
