Friends of the Library Annual Author’s Spring Luncheon
The Friends of the Library announce their spring 2005 Author.
Jill McCorkle will be at the Bette Fine Arts Center on April 14th. Ms. McCorkle made literary history when her first two novels were published simultaneously by Algonquin Books. Of her eight books of fiction, five have been chosen by the New York Times as Notable Books of the Year.
Jill is a graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill. In 1981 she graduated from the Hollins College Masters Program in writing. A native of Lumberton, NC, Ms McCorkle has taught writing at UNC, Bennington College, Tufts University and Harvard. Her most recent publication Creatures of Habit is a collection of wise, off beat and hilarious pieces, each named after a particular animal. These stories focus on characters in the fictional town of Fulton, NC. Along the way, McCorkle pays homage to women in all stages of their lives.
She currently lives outside of Boston with her husband, their two children, several dogs, and a collection of toads.
