What did you do on your Summer vacation? We can tell you that Dr. C. Brian Odom, Biology, spent part of his Summer with the EKS Library Reference Staff. Dr. Odom agreed to work with the Librarians in order to create exemplar pages for a new section of the Library website.
The Recommended Resources web pages are a collaborative effort between Faculty members and the Reference Librarians in order to provide students with an annotated bibliography specifically designed for their courses. Items listed are suggestions for supplemental readings, background information, and research tools, and ideal go-to resources with a discipline specific approach.
This section, introduced to the faculty during Faculty Workshop 2007, can be located at the following URL: http://library.wingate.edu/reference/RecommendedResources/home.html. Currently, the only discipline represented is Biology but we hope to add to the listing very quickly. The four categories include: Reference Materials, Online Resources, Reserve and Circulating Collections, and Web Resources. To create an entry for your class you do not have to incorporate all four categories, but it is recommended. These pages will be used during Bibliographic Instruction sessions taught by both Librarians and Faculty and employed by Reference Librarians when responding to queries at the Reference Desk. Since the annotations will be written by the professor teaching the specific class, we hope they will prove to be invaluable regarding authoritative resources.
To create an entry for your class, please contact Amee Odom at 8096 or firstname.lastname@example.org OR Jimm Wetherbee at 8092 or email@example.com.
