A roundtable discussion on Robert Morgan’s This Rock will be lead by six of Wingate’s finest. The interdisciplinary panelists will include Don Merrill from the Psychology Department, John Sykes and Melanie Boyter Weaver from the English department, Sue Pauley from the Sociology Department, Derrill Smith from Wingate Baptist Church and Dr. Sylvia Little-Sweat as moderator.
Robert Morgan will be the guest speaker at the Friends of the Library Author’s Luncheon on April 3, 2003. Mr. Morgan has been “regarded as the poet laureate of Appalachia”. This Rock is a coming-of-age tale set in the Carolinas in the early ’20s. The Appalachian Mountains provide the backdrop for the struggles between two brothers as different as night and day, and a mother determined to keep a family together.
Mark your calendars now for both of these exciting events. Reservations for the luncheon will be accepted beginning February 24th. Cost to Faculty and Staff is $15.00 per person. Contact Luanne Barbee, ext. 8093 or email@example.com, for ticket information.
