Library Instruction and Class Research:
In keeping with the Wingate University and Ethel K. Smith Library mission statements, and as a subset of the Reference Department, the focus of Library Instruction and Information Literacy is to foster lifelong learning and research skills in the university’s student body, faculty and staff, and community patrons.
Library instruction sessions are designed to empower your students to identify, access, evaluate, and ethically utilize the information that they require to be successful in your course and in their college careers. Instruction sessions are offered to all classes on all of Wingate University's campuses.
Wingate Campus: Hands-on instruction sessions are conducted in the Reference Department which contains 25 computers and an additional 6 seats for students to bring their own computers.
Ballantyne Campus and Other Instruction Sites: Classes are taught in the assigned Ballantyne classrooms. Librarians also travel to cohort campus locations for instruction. For the Hendersonville Campus, classes can be taught via remote Zoom sessions. All students at these locations should plan to bring a laptop or tablet in order to fully participate in these interactive sessions.
